Nissan Altima Android Auto Upgrade for Lake City Car Audio Client

February 15, 2018 By JOey Knapp Leave a Comment

Nissan Altima Android AutoA client recently came to us looking for a way to safely use his phone while driving his 2015 Nissan Altima.  We talked with the client about the different ways that could be accomplished.  After narrowing down the best radio for the client we scheduled the appointment for his Nissan Altima Android Auto upgrade.

Mitchell1 Software Saves The Day

Nissan Altima Android Auto
The factory radio had a small screen and no ability for Android Auto.

We have recently subscribed to the Mitchell1 ProDemand service for vehicle wiring and repair.  This service gives us access to wiring diagrams and exploded views of 100’s of automobiles.  For this Altima we were able to use the ProDemand service to determine the proper wiring for the steering wheel controls interface.  Typically this wiring information is provided with the steering wheel interface, but this 2015 Altima was not listed.  A quick look through the ProDemand software helped us verify the proper wiring.

Backup Camera Interfacing

Nissan Altima Android Auto
The client will now be able to backup safely thanks to the camera integration.

The client’s small factory screen served as not only the radio for the car but also the display for the factory backup camera.  The client had asked us about possibly retaining the factory backup camera.  Thanks again to our ProDemand software, we were able to determine the correct wires to us for interfacing the new radio with the factory backup camera.  The ProDemand software also alerted us to a changing in voltage for the camera system.  The client would now be able to see the view from his camera on the new, larger screen.

Nissan Altima Android Auto Features

Nissan Altima Android Auto
100’s of apps are available for Android Auto.

The component of this installation that the client was most concerned about was the smartphone integration.  Thanks to the new Kenwood radio, the client would now had handsfree control of his phone.  And exciting new feature too is the addition of Waze to the Android Auto suite.  Now the best smartphone navigation software would be at the control of the client’s voice.  In addition to navigation, Pandora, iHeartRadio, Spotify and hundreds of other apps are now available.

Toyota Highlander Radio Upgrade for Lake City Dealership

Pinnacle Autosound was recently contacted by a local dealership requesting a Toyota Highlander radio upgrade.  After finding out the features the vehicle had from the factory we put together a plan to upgrade the Highlander with the latest and greatest Kenwood eXcelon touchscreen navigation radio. The Highlander also had SiriusXM as a source so the dealership wanted to retain it as well as the factory backup camera.

Toyota Highlander Radio Installation

We started the installation by removing the factory radio and preparing the new dash kit for installation.  After the radio was secured in the dash kit, we began to wire up the radio harness. The radio harness plugs into the factory radio and allows us to install the new radio without cutting the vehicle wiring.  This installation would use an interface to not only keep the OEM steering wheel controls, but also the OEM backup camera as well as the vehicle controls that were available on the factory screen.  We accomplished this integration with the help of the iDatalink Maestro interface.  The Maestro is an incredible little box that communicates with the factory computer.  The information the Maestro gets from the computer is displayed on the screen of the Kenwood radio.  Things like tire pressure, battery voltage, vehicle speed and RPM are available for display.

Navigation and Backup Camera Integration

Making sure the vehicle’s owner gets safely to their destination is the job of the Kenwood navigation.  The Kenwood radio uses navigation powered by Garmin, the world leader in GPS technology.  Making the drive safer in reverse is accomplished by integrating the factory backup camera with the new radio.  Our technicians accomplished this through the use of a voltage adapter that powers the factory camera with a specific voltage it requires.  Now whenever the Highlander is placed in reverse, the backup camera image is displayed on the Kenwood screen, just like the factory radio.

A local client from Lake City recently contacted us about upgrading the failing marine audio system in his pontoon boat.  We spoke with him about his goals for the upgrade and ended up booking him an appointment.

Rockford Fosgate Subwoofer Upgrade

The biggest problem with the client’s boat was the old subwoofer had stopped working.  We replaced the 10″ marine subwoofer and added an additional 10″ subwoofer.  The subwoofers were mounted on each side of the boat in storage cabinets.  We choose the Rockford Fosgate Prime 10″ marine subwoofers for this application.  To power the subwoofers we used 2 Rockford Fosgate 300 watt amplifiers.  These amplifiers are very efficient in both power consumption and size.  Their efficiency will allow the client to play the system for a long time when he is out on the water.

Wetsounds Speaker Upgrade

While we were working on the boat the client also wanted us to improve the sound of the speakers.  We were able to put together a package consisting of two pair of Wet Sounds coaxial speakers and a Wet Sounds 4-channel amplifier.  The Wet Sounds equipment is designed to be in the marine environment so we know the client will enjoy the speakers for a long time.

Pontoon Boat Audio Delivery

Once all the gear was installed we took the time to carefully adjust the amplifiers and radio setting to maximize the performance of the new system.  The sound was very impressive.  When the client picked the boat up he loved the improved clarity and output of the system.  More bass was an added bonus!

If you are interested in upgrading the audio system in your boat, stop by and see us, or contact us HERE for an appointment or questions.

Lake City Clients Gets Harley-Davidson LED Lighting Upgrades

February 13, 2017 By JOey Knapp Leave a Comment

Harley-Davidson Lighting
Harley-Davidson Lighting
Two separate Lake City clients recently came to Pinnacle Autosound to add some LED Lighting to their Harley-Davidson motorcycles.  We were installing a lighting system on one of the Harleys, when another of our regular clients stopped by.  He saw the lighting upgrades and decided he needed them for his bike too!  He left to get his bike and bring it back for us to work on.

Harley-Davidson Lighting Upgrades for Two Bikes

Both of these Harley-Davidson’s got the same LED lighting system.  The system is specifically designed for use on motorcycles, so you know it is ruggedly built.  Our technician was very careful when removing any of the seats or body panels. We take great care of every vehicle we work on.  The lighting system secures to the bike with an automotive-grade double stick tape.  This ensures the lights stay mounted securely, but also allow removal, if necessary.  We soldered the electrical connections on the bikes, for the utmost in reliability.  We also protected any exposed wires with loom tubing. This treatment also helped them to blend in with the factory wiring.  The wiring was then secured to the bike parts with wire-ties.  It takes extra time to route all the wires so they are hidden, but the extra time is worth it.  When we finished the installations, none of the wiring was visible on the bikes.  Both bikes looked like they did when their owner’s dropped them off.  Until the lights were switched on.  Our lighting system uses a wireless remote control.  The control not only turns the system on and off, but also allows the clients to adjust the color of the lighting system.  Any color is possible, thanks to the red, blue, green combination of lights.

We Specialize in Motorcycle Lighting and Audio

If you own an Harley-Davidson, or some other motorcycle, and are interested in getting some lighting upgrades, stop by or contact us here.  Don’t forget, we also offer awesome motorcycle audio systems too!

Fishing Boat Audio

With all the water that surrounds Lake City, Florida,  it is natural for many residence to have boats. Time on the open water is certainly fun. What makes it better is being able to take your music with you. That is just what the owner of this large center console boat wanted. Let’s look at what went into this fishing boat audio system.

For good sound coverage on a boat this large we had to use a number of speakers. Because this boat saw salt water we had to go with our most reliable marine brand, Wet Sounds for all the speakers. Wet Sounds is the premier marine speaker company, and with good reason, they sound great and are very durable. To make sure there was great sound everywhere, we installed 3 pair of Wet Sounds SW-808 coaxial speakers. Powering the speakers is a Wet Sounds 6 channel amplifier. The output and clarity of these speakers is amazing. To further augment the low end response, we added 2 Wet Sounds SW-10FA Subwoofers to the center console. These subwoofers are designed to use the air in the console as their enclosure. With 700 watts of Wet Sounds power, these subwoofers ROCK. As we mentioned at the start, this client wanted to be able to listen to his music on the boat. We gave him a number of different ways to do this, all of them controlled by a Rockford Fosgate RFX-MR5BB Media Player. The media player gives the client the ability to listen to AM, FM, music on a USB device, Bluetooth audio, and anything that has an 1/8″ stereo jack. He now has access to almost an unlimited source of music!

When the client first heard his boat he was blown away. He loved how loud and clear the music was from any place on the boat. He couldn’t wait to get out on the water with it! If you have a boat and want to either add or upgrade the audio system, give us a call or contact us here for more information.

February 4, 2017 By JOey Knapp Leave a Comment

Jeep Wrangler Audio
Jeep Wrangler Audio

The Lake City, Florida owner of this vehicle wanted to upgrade his 2005 Jeep Wrangler audio and technology. The Pinnacle Autosound technicians were up to the task.

Alpine 8″ Screen For Easy Off-Road Viewing

Instead of installing the normal 7″ double-din sized screen, the technicians stepped it up a notch and went with an Alpine 8″ in-dash navigation radio. An installation like this is not just plug and play. The fabrication team at Pinnacle Autosound had to modify the OEM trim bezel to fit the huge radio. Custom mounting brackets also had to be fabricated to hold the massive radio.

Jeep Wrangler Audio Upgrade

Not content with just getting a technology upgrade, the client also chose to have Pinnacle Autosound upgrade the audio system too. The front stage was upgraded with Hertz Hi-Energy component speakers. For low-end reinforcement, an Audiomobile GTS 10″ subwoofer was installed in a custom subwoofer enclosure. Powering the speakers and subwoofer is a multi-channel Alpine PDX amplifier.

Stop By Or Call Today!

The result was a drastic improvement in not only the technology in the Jeep, but also the sound quality. If you own a Jeep and are looking to upgrade any of the electronics or audio, give Pinnacle Autosound a call today. You can also contact us here to setup an appointment or for more information.

2014 Lincoln MKT Gets Headrest Video System

February 4, 2017 By JOey Knapp Leave a Comment

Headrest VideoThe Lake City, Florida owner of this Lincoln MKT wanted to add a video system to their vehicle. After some discussion with our sales staff, we determined that a dual headrest video system would best suit the client’s needs. The client liked how our system was color-matched and looked like a factory option, at a fraction of the price.

Dual Headrest Video System Offers Separate Video Sources

The system we choose gives the client the ability to play two different video sources on each headrest. Each headrest not only includes its own DVD player, but also separate auxiliary inputs. This allows each rear passenger to watch whatever they prefer on the screen in front of them.

Numerous Audio Options

In addition to individual video, each passenger can also listen to their unique audio via wireless headphones. As with all our video systems, additional headphones are available if more passengers desire to hear the audio. We also offer the unique option of being able to have the audio from the video system to play through the factory stereo system.

If you would like to increase the driving safety of your vehicle, and have happier rear-seat passengers, give us a call. Our mobile video experts would love to talk with you about what video option is the perfect solution for your needs.
